이번 영상은 미국의 로맨틱 발렌타인데이와 관련된 질문에 원어민 친구들이 답하는 영상입니다.

이번에도 인터뷰를 하면서 다양한 것들을 알게 되었답니다. 크게 2가지만 말씀드리면,

1. a dozen red roses

발렌타인데이에 꽃 선물할 때는 다음의 3가지 조건을 갖춘다고 하네요. "12송이, 빨간, 장미"요. 10송이도 아닌 꼭 12송이, 분홍색도 아닌 꼭 빨간색, 다른 종류의 꽃이 아닌 꼭 장미여야 한다는 거예요. 궁금해서 검색해보니 빨간 장미는 사랑을 의미하고 숫자 12는 완벽함을 뜻한다고 합니다. (아래 추가 설명)

2. Galentine's Day

미국 드라마 Parks & Recreations에서 나와서 하나의 문화로 자리를 잡은 듯해요. 여자 친구들이 모여서 발렌타인데이를 보내는 거죠. 갤런타인데이는 2월 13일이라고 하네요. 그 즈음에 모여서 여성 우정의 날을 보낸다고 합니다. (아래 추가 설명)

What is the significance of 12 red roses?

For example, a dozen red roses conveys a declaration of love and passion. 12 stems also communicates perfection and completeness, because the number itself is associated with an entire year, the 12 hours of a day, and the 12 signs of the zodiac.
